Coffee or Tea?

28 October, 2006

Wow! Father recently bought 12 cans of Anchor beer, 6 cans of ABC stout, 1 bottle of Australian wine, 1 bottle of California wine, and 1 bottle of Chile wine.

I am not happy with my results. Not happy. I screwed up during term 2. That was bad enough to give me the same position again. Hell, if they did not count Art and did not include all the express students, my position would be better. Never mind. Next year there will be a drastic improvement.

I have been reading O level Biology, Chemistry, Physics, English, and Mathematics books recently, in an attempt to push up my level of understanding next year. Daily work has got to be done.

Due to the muthafuckin results, I will be studying 2.5 h each day, playing computer as well, surfing Wikipedia on a wide array of subjects, and or course, sleeping. Have to go back to school during November for quite a few times for Wushu training, but thats pretty ok. My holiday may be cancelled. I may not be going anywhere, but I can stop that if I study like siao.

Biology is sick. They talk about sexual reproduction in humans. The penis, scrotum, testis, epididymis, seminal vessicle, sperm duct, vagina, vulva, cervix, YUCK! It's terrible. We'll be studying it in Sec 2.

Oh yes, time for Chinese.

这次, 老师有给作业。需要完成两篇私函和两篇作文。这样比没有作业好。

I have just come back from Catholic High Sch Drama night, and I have some comments.

The response for the drama night was not good. Only about half the auditorium was filled. What a disappointment.

The acting was pretty good. 1-2 was by far, the best class among the 3 classes. However, the only people who turned up to show support were me and Bryan Ching. Guess what? TT was behind us and Bryan Ching kept cursing and regretting sitting at that position.

This holiday, I will be going to S.Korea. It was a very hard decision to make. My family was considering Beijing, China, but it was too cold. Also, they said that it would be very boring there. But that doesn't matter to me - I just want to visit the city itself. That would be very good already. My family also considered Tokyo, Japan, but Tokyo is a very expensive place. Everything there would be extremely expensive. My family thought of Taiwan, where I could also visit my Italian uncle, but hey, S.Korea has more stuff to see compared to Taiwan. Heh, N.Korea would not have been a bad choice...a visit to Pyongyang...ha! Just follow the guide, praise Kim Jong Il, and you should be fine...anyway I am not a journalist. The N.Korean government is known to issue visas without much hassle to anyone who is there just for sightseeing purposes. Too bad, N.Korea is out of question. So Seoul it is then. But man, I would have preferred Beijing. There were those Seoul + Beijing 8/9D tours, but those are very tiring, you would have to rush to the airports and hotels and stuff. No time to rest properly. But never mind, S.Korea seems pretty ok.

Just got back my SL game from Bryan Ching. He said that he will transferring to 2-4 next year. I don't know, I'll ask him on Wednesday.

Selamat Hari Raya

Literary Expressions

Paper 2
5 October 2006
1 Hour 40 Minutes
40 Marks

I could hardly believe my eyes when I flipped open the newspapers on April 26. Three bombs had ripped through the beach resort of Dahab, located on the Sinai Peninsula of Egypt, killing at least 24 people and injuring more than 80 others. Barely two weeks before that, I was in one of the quiet cafes that lined the beach, sipping a fruit shake and admiring the quiet calm of the Red Sea. Thre was some relief that my vacation was not as long as I would have liked, yet the main sensation weighing in my mind was sorrow.

Although I spent only three days in Sinai, it left a deep impression. The idyllic peninsula is a welcome change from the rest of Egypt. I nevertheless find Sinai to be such sweet, sweet relief. My initial intention was to discover its rugged desert landscape - an arid land with more brown than green, where rocks and sand dominate the scenery and little life appears to survive in its deadly dry environment. But being hassled endlessly everywhere else, it feels refreshing to walk along the streets of Duhab undisturbed.

I also have a burning desire to climb Mount Sinai. As the place where the prophet Moses was said to have received the Ten Commandments from God, Mount Sinai is a holy place for Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike. In a country that is financially and culturally dominated by its ancient religion, it is easy to forget that Egypt is closely linked to major modern religions. Joseph, Mary, and infant Jesus were said to have fled from Israel to Egypt to escape persecution from King Herod of Judea. And Islam's influence can be seen everywhere in Ancient Egypt, where gorgeous mosques dot the streets of Cairo. About 90 per cent of Egyptian are Muslims. Prayer calls are heard around their cities five times a days and greetings like ''Sh'allah'' (which means God-willing) are peppered in daily use.

I start my climb to Mount Sinai's 2285 summit at midnight - coincidentally on Good Friday - hoping to catch a glimpse of the sunrise over the desert. Bathed in the glow of a full moon, there is a peaceful hush that surrounds the mountain. ..................................................................

Should I continue?

Question 17 of Mathematics examination. I found out after getting back the paper that I could actually solve it. Nervousness during the exam? Or the question looked too difficult to handle? I don't know. All I know is that I can solve it. The construction question I could have done it. A careless mistake due to lack of practice lead to the loss of 5 marks. I could have gotten 74 at least. Shit it. Never mind. I know I can improve on Maths. I have a confirmed A1 for this SA. It's exactly what I expected.

Okay, the question is question 17.

Mr Choy opens an account with a certain investment scheme in which after a period of 3 years, the amount of interest $i is given by the formula

$i = m(1 + r)3 - a2 - m

where $m is the amount of money he invests, r is the fixed interest rate per annum and $a is a negative number representing the administrative fees.

Given that at the time of the investment, r = 0.02 and a = -5, find

(a) the amount of interest Mr Choy will receive after 3 years if he invests $25000,

(b) how much money Mr Choy needs to invest if he wants to earn at least $2000 interest after 3 years.

Calculator can be used.

(a) $i = m(1 + r)3 - a2 - m is equal to $i = m(1 + 0.02)3 - (-5)2 -m.

This is equal to ---> $i = m(1.02)3 - 25 - m

$i = 1.061208m - 25 - m

$i = 0.061208m - 25

We know m is equal to 25000, so

$i = 0.061208(25000) -25

$i = 1530.2 - 25

$i = 1505.2

The interest he will receive is $1505.2.

(b) 2000 = m(1 + r)3 - a2 - m

2000 = m(1.02)3 - 25 - m

2000 = 1.061208m - 25 - m

2000 = 0.061208m - 25

2025 = 0.061208m

2025000000 = 61208m

33083.91 = m

Mr Choy needs to invest $33083.91 in order to earn $2000 interest after 3 years.

I made a careless mistake. I should add 4 marks get 69.

Next, there is the construction question. I went home and did it. I also did it correctly. Give me 5 marks. 69 + 5 = 74.

Yeah, I think I deserve 74. Bloody shit, what's done is done. Next time I'll be the best.

As for Science, I got 70/100. A2. Yes. Happy? Not really. Could have improved.

高级华文考试我得了58/110。 填写词语太容易了, 我得了满分。但是阅读理解非长难, 结果丢了很多分。可是我还及格。在第一和第二学段, 我只考了40+分。我打算做多一点阅读理解, 下一次得更高的分。

The Literary Expressions paper was a complete disaster. The majority of the class failed the comprehension. However, the class performed better for the personal response questions. I only got 12/20 for the personal response questions, due to a terrible reason - I forgot to split my answer into paragraphs. If I had done so, I would have gotten 17-18/20. Also, I should have elaborated more on my answer. But I cannot travel back in time to change my answers. So I'll have to live with it. I think I will get 60-70/100 for LE again.
9/20 + 12/20 = 21/40. ===> 52.5/100.

52.5/100 ===> 15.75%

Composition estimate 25%.

Spelling tests - 9%

Mr Chen's Oral Communications - 7%

Poetry test - 15.2%

Estimated mark - 71.95 (If my compo is good, ha ha.)

Tomorrow getting History marks. What will I get? I don't know. It had better be an A1.

I never really liked Japanese anime, so I drew this. Who will win? Captain Planet? Or the Bleach guy?

I never liked Naruto, and I support Bob the Builder. So, since I got tired of playing computer games, I drew this instead. Poor Naruto gets his fingers chopped off by Bob! Humiliating defeat!

No offense to Bleach and Naruto fans ok?

Sorry everyone, this blog was dead for too long, and now, it's waking up! I didn't have time to update yesterday due to Brian and Jianlun's visit.

Before I posted this I was playing like siao. The moment I woke up, I massacred people on GTA : San Andreas. Then, I played Dragon Fist 2 and did another massacre. (By the way I have contacted the creator of Dragon Fist, Ben Olding, and he says he will be releasing DF3 soon. The demo is only available to members of the DF community. Join if you're interested.) Then I went to GTA 3 and massacred the police. Then I did a mass killing on Age Of Empires 2, killed 12516 units. Went to Vice City and killed another 3000. Kill kill kill, ha ha ha!

Yep, and yesterday's visit to the Singapore Expo was pretty ok. Firstly, went to school and there was this talk about blogging. But wait a minute, that talk was too basic! I knew the do's and don'ts all along. Everything he said, I knew it. But at least his talk reinforced the rules. So, for the benefit of fellow bloggers who forgot what he said, I am going to post it.

1) Do not 'flame' people by spreading untrue rumours about him/her on your blog. You can be sued.

2) Do not post racist/religious content on your blog. Singapore is a multi-racial and multi-religious country. Anything you write about a race or religion could anger them and cause unwanted trouble.

3) Do not put viruses or spy programs on your blog.

4) Never put your contact details on your blog. There are paedophiles out there wanting to do something to you.

5) Never express hate at a teacher. Teachers are willing to sue if you do so.

Yeah, that's about it. Did I leave out anything?

After that blog talk, it was time to go to the Singapore Expo. Sat with Colin and Zejun and Wei Yang sat behind us. Listened to mp3 player throughout whole journey. Then, reached the Expo and went to the ballroom, where Mr Billy Shum was waiting. He gave a talk about Neopets. Ha ha ha, to think that I actually played that game was I was in P2. Yeah, of course the pets are cute. But dammit, I didn't win the soft toy prizes! Grr, the ushers did not see me, I was raising my hand like mad to ask a question to get the prize, but what the hell they never saw me. I wanted to win the toy, ARGH!

Then, went outside the Expo to eat snacks and drink drinks. But what the hell is wrong with the school? There was a food court METRES away, but they said, ''No buying food and drinks at the food court. We asked you to bring the snacks.'' Not that I didn't bring any snacks, but the school was too straight with that matter. They could have been more flexible. Too bad, they were not.

After that, went to the exhibition, it ended, and went back to school. Then, met up with Brian and Jianlun and they came to my house. First we played some Vice City and did a mass killing. Kill! Then we went to the fire engine access way of the condo and it was fighting time! Yeah baby, the old memories came back. P6, after PSLE, fought with Brian and the back of the class. Yesterday was a day to relive it all. A satisfying fight, and of course, Jianlun had it recorded on my video camera. The video is now with me. Shall I put it up? I don't know. Let me know on Cbox, I'll see the response. After all that fighting, went swimming, then played some DF2, then sent Brian home, After that, went to Sembawang Shopping Centre, played at the arcade there with Jianlun. We were fighting fighting fighting and defeated countless enemies and numerous bosses. After that Jianlun went home. That was it, fun time!
